Hi! My name is Megan, and I am so happy to be joining Pawshake. I am from New York and currently live in Paris with my pet cat, Jasper- who as you can see from the photos, is basically my child. I am a native English speaker and speak conversational French. I grew up with so many types of animals including dogs, cats, horses, hamsters, reptiles, etc. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in pre-vet science from a top US vet school (NC State), and am hoping to go to vet school sometime in the future. For over 12 years, I’ve worked as a veterinary assistant at many different veterinary clinics, animal rescues, and even rescue conservation zoos. From these experiences & my degree, I am very confident caring for pets that are sick, have special needs, allergies or disabilities. I am also confident administering medications or shots. I am very reactive in any emergency situation, know the signs of illness/distress, know what is toxic to what species, and am dog/cat CPR certified. Having my own pet here in Paris, I am aware of any precautions for disease outbreaks (right now bird flu) and I also have a list of the closest animal emergency centers. Right now I am only accepting vaccinated pets into my home but I am happy to work with unvaccinated (or not yet vaccinated) pets at your home. Animal safety & health is my number one passion & priority. From working at animal rescues, I know a lot about animal behavior and I love & am comfortable working with rescued pets that are shy, have certain triggers or are reactive with people/other animals. Also from working at the Bronx Zoo in NYC, I have personally assisted in care for over 80 different animal species and am comfortable working with really any exotic species!

Availability-wise, I currently work freelance so my schedule is flexible and I can be available very frequently. With this schedule in mind, I am comfortable working with flexible or last minute clients.

Protecting & caring for animals has always been my calling in life and something that is core to who I am. I know first-hand how scary & difficult it can be to have someone else care for your pet, and I take caring for all animals with extreme care, seriousness, and compassion.
